Best Lengua Recipe

A well-known dish in the Philippines, which ox tongue is cooked in creamy mushroom sauce. Delicious and irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 1 pc Lengua ox tongue
  • 1 pc Onion diced
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • ½ cup Cooking Oil
  • ¾ cup Nestle Cream
  • 2 pcs Calamansi extracted
  • ¼ cup Cheese grated
  • 4 cups Water
  • ½ cup Mushroom button

Instructions

  • Marinate the ox tongue in soy sauce, black pepper, and calamansi extract in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a cooking pan. Fry the marinated tongue until brown. Then remove some oil from the pan.
  • On the same pan, saute garlic and onion until cooked. Then put-in the fried tongue and pour in water. Let it boil for about 2 hours or until the tongue softened.
    Note: Add water if needed.
  • Add the mushroom button and nestle cream. Stir and cover for 5 minutes. Then add the grated cheese on top.
  • Transfer on a serving plate. Enjoy!
