Potatoes Salads with Diced Carrots Recipes

Carrots are often used as one of the many ingredients in different kinds of recipes. But did you know that you can also use it as the main component for a salad? Yes, the ever-humble root crop can be used for our salad variation.

But before using it, make sure to have it boiled until it’s cooked through, but not too tender, just enough for you to be still able to have it chopped.

Carrots are tough, so boiling them in salted water for about 8-10 minutes will do the trick.

To enjoy its naturally sweet and nutty flavor, we encourage you to use vinaigrette instead of the usual creamy dressing as it tends to overpower the natural taste of ingredients. So for that, a quarter cup of olive oil, lemon, and pepper will surely complement this salad variation.

Creamy Potato-Salad Recipes

I prefer to eat creamy potato, well, anything that is made of potatoes I would shamelessly eat. I am a die-hard fan of potato, may it be fried, has brown, baked, or salad. As long as it’s potato recipes, you don’t even have to ask me to take part in it.

So if you are on the same boat with me, then this dish is perfect for you. Potatoes are generally bland in flavor; it only relies on the sauce or dressing used for it. So the taste of potato, especially in the salad, rises and falls in the dressing.

And for an additional layer of flavor, crispy bacon bits and a few dice of cheddar cheese will do magic. Trust me; this might be one of the perfect variations you have tasted so far.

Potato-Salad without Mayo

If you’re planning to go all out when it comes to healthy food choices and you have decided to get rid of creamy and rich dressings for your salad, then we still have options for you. Eating healthy does not necessarily equate to tasteless so that we might have the fit options for you.

First on the list is Herbed Salad, and you guessed it right; no dressing is needed. This variation is as healthy as it gets and a little sophisticated. So enjoying this dish is now guilt-free.

Pick your potato of choice, and boil them just until they are cooked through. Season them with salt. The vinaigrette can be as simple as a mixture of olive oil, mustard, and a hint of lemon juice and pepper. Basil, dill, and parsley are the herbs of choice as they leave a refreshing aftertaste and do not have a very intense flavor and aroma.

Another variation that you can try is of French origin. The steps in preparing the potato are pretty much the same. Boil them in lightly salted water until cooked through. Adding herbs is also beneficial to the flavor.

The vinaigrette, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and dijon mustard, and freshly cracked black pepper will do magic for this salad.

No matter how great you are in the kitchen, mishaps still happen. And it can get to our nerves, which makes us lose our cool. But worry no more because we have listed down a few troubleshooting steps you can take to remedy kitchen mishaps.

  • If the dressing is too thick and creamy and gets overpowering, add a tablespoon of lemon juice to cut down on the creaminess. This also adds a tangy flavor to the dressing.
  • If the dressing is somehow too runny or liquidy, add more potatoes to the mix. The natural starch coming from the potatoes will mix into the sauce to thicken it a bit.

Knowing a few tips when cooking individual recipes can help make us more efficient and better cooks. Here are some tips that we want to share with you, which will help you become better when cooking our chicken potato salad.

  • Potatoes are naturally bland and starchy, so make sure to boil them before using them in a salad. Add in salt to the water to add taste to it and reduce the potatoes’ starch content.
  • For more flavorful recipes, we would suggest keeping the skin intact. The oils coming from the skin contributes to the flavor of the salad.
