How To Make The Best Banana Pudding

Banana Pudding is a dessert basically made from fresh sliced banana, vanilla-flavored custard, cookies which can be either vanilla wafers or ladyfingers placed and served in a dish with meringue or whipped cream, but some other variants of Banana Pudding have been invented and introduced in the market.

Enjoy It in Many Different Ways

Banana Pudding Cheesecake

The Banana Pudding Cheesecake is actually a combination of two of the most delicious desserts ever created. The crunch brought about by the wafer or cookies in the Banana Pudding complements the thickness and rich taste of the cheesecake. Some people prefer making both desserts separately and then combining them to form one great dessert, but other people would also prefer putting some bananas into the cheesecake mixture.

No-Bake Banana Pudding

Just because it is “No-Bake”, doesn’t mean it tastes less than the baked ones. This one does not need to be baked in an oven nor does it need to have flour as its base. The consistency of the No-Bake Banana Pudding depends on the ingredients used and the time it has been left in the fridge. It would be advisable that this is served 3-4 hours after being chilled.

Sugar-Free Banana Pudding

The Sugar-Free Banana Pudding is a perfect option for people who are diabetic, trying to cut the sugar intake and also for people who are trying to enjoy a dessert without the guilt. However, some ingredients may be hard to find, one of which is the sugar-free vanilla wafers.

Chocolate Banana Pudding

Making the Chocolate Banana Pudding is similar to how the normal or vanilla banana pudding is made. The only difference is that there is chocolate in it. People can opt to use cocoa powder infused in the mixture or use melted chocolate for added sweetness. Some people sprinkle chocolate chips and bits as well for an added magic.

Banana pudding with sour cream

For people who like a little kick of sour and bitter with a sprinkle of sweetness, Banana Pudding With Sour Cream would be good for their pallette. Instead of using cream and meringue, people use sour cream. It is preferable that this is chilled for at least 3 hours or more considering that the texture of the sour cream is a little loose compared to the basic pudding.

Banana Pudding with Cream Cheese

Banana Pudding with Cream Cheese would need a little bit more attention compared to the normal Banana Pudding. This is also easy to make and perfect, especially for people who love cheese and cream cheese. For people who prefer making this, you might need to put in some extra work to make sure that the cream cheese and sugar would be smooth. No one wants to eat pudding and then suddenly feel lumps of cream cheese and sugar, right?

Banana Pudding Recipe with Condensed Milk

Banana Pudding usually has vanilla flavor, but for people who like it to have that touch of milk and sweetness, incorporating condensed milk is a great idea. The thickness of the condensed milk is just right to create that perfect consistency for your Banana Pudding.

Banana Pudding with Vanilla Wafers

If you want to have that extra crunch in your Banana Pudding, using Vanilla Wafers would be the best decision you would ever make with this dessert. Depending on what your preference is, you can have the wafers as the pudding base or have it as the support base on the sides. Some even mix crushed wafers into the mixture and use it as toppings and sprinkle it on top as well.

Banana Pudding with Cool Whip

Most people prefer their Banana Pudding base mixture thick, creamy or sometimes sticky too. For some though, they prefer a little bit on the lighter side. Choosing to have Banana Pudding with Cool Whip would give you that airy, soft texture that some people really like too.

Trivia

The dish was introduced and became popular in the US after the Civil War. The improvements in modes of traveling paved the way for larger quantities of bananas to be brought from the Carribean and Central America. The recipes for Banana Pudding began appearing in magazines, articles, books and newspapers as early as the year 1888.

What to Do When Making Banana Pudding Goes Wrong

Problems you might encounter in making Banana Pudding are the following together with tips on how to fix them.

Consistency – If you feel that your pudding’s consistency is not right or if it is too loose, you might want to try adding crushed wafer. This helps in making the consistency thicker. You might want to try heating the mixture and also adding vanilla extract and then straining the mixture.

Bananas are turning dark – Toss the bananas in lemon juice.

Tips in Cooking Banana Pudding

Always try to follow the recipes and make sure that if you are substituting some ingredients, always try creating in small portions first to avoid having to throw your pudding if it does not turn out well.

Best Served With

If you are having Banana Pudding in the morning for breakfast, having black coffee with it balances the tastes in your buds. During lunch, the juice of your freshly squeezed mango juice or lemon juice would be great. In the afternoon, having it with tea is an amazing idea.
